The 21st movie to emerge from the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought us its most powerful hero yet, as Captain Marvel announced her arrival in style. But was the ’90s-set story a classic superhero actioner, or one of Marvel’s less spectacular efforts? Now’s the time to tell us what you think for SFX magazine’s latest Hot Topic.
What did you think of Brie Larson’s performance in the title role? Did the mixed-up Carol Danvers/Kree operative origin story work? How was Samuel L Jackson’s digitally de-aged performance as the younger version of Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.? And what does Captain Marvel’s arrival mean for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame?
What about the surprising portrayals of Mar-Vell and classic shapeshifting Big Bads the Skrulls? Did the action scenes meet the very high bar set by Captain Marvel’s MCU predecessors? Most importantly, was Goose the cat the star of the show? (We know the answer is probably yes – but hey, you’ve got to ask, right?)
So what did you think? The best way to get in touch? Email us at [email protected]. Alternatively, post a comment below, or tweet at @SFXmagazine using the hashtag #SFXhottopic. The best contributions will be immortalised on the pages of SFX magazine issue 313 (on sale April 24, 2019).
And don't forget, there’s plenty of other things you could talk about. How are you enjoying Star Trek Discovery season 2? Is the return of American Gods heavenly or hellish? Is series two of Timewasters on ITV2 worth setting a date for? Is David Fincher’s Love, Death and Robots on Netflix the anthology show of your dreams? Or is there anything you want to tell us about our latest issue – remember, we do love a compliment!
